Ryman’s Inc. Cooling & Heating was established in 1968. It began with the founder and president, Otis Ryman. Over the past 58 years, Ryman’s has grown from a small family-owned operation to an established HVAC contractor with a 14+ employee staff, a fleet of 12 trucks, and 3 mobile duct trailers. We take pride in providing quality installations and exceptional service to each customer.
In Memory of Our Founder
In 1968, Otis established Ryman's Air Conditioning and Heating, which he operated out of the trunk of his car. Within five years, he became a Carrier Dealer and installed his first Carrier heat pump. Otis remained loyal to the Carrier distributorship throughout his 53 year career. Even though he was approached several times over the years by other HVAC brands, he never wavered from Carrier. Otis received numerous Carrier sales awards, achievements, and incentive trips over the years. His greatest accomplishment was becoming the first Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer in 2003.
Unfortunately, Otis was forced to retire due to health reasons. He dearly missed his customers and ability to care for them. In a small rural town, he was one of the few reliable people others could call. Otis was often referred to as a businessman with a big heart!
In February 2021, Otis Ryman passed away. He has left a powerful legacy among his family and long-time employees, who continue to operate Ryman's Inc. Cooling and Heating on the same principles Otis instilled.
Meet the Owners
Stephanie and Eric Smith started managing the business 11 years ago and became owners 6 years ago. Stephanie, Otis' daughter, is the president of the firm, and son-in-law, Eric Smith, are continuing Otis’ legacy, and his grandson, Adam Smith, works in the business. “We are very appreciative to our long-time customers in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. We have been blessed with positive customer support over the years and are thankful to you all.
